Received an unusual upgrade today... for a flight on April 30th. The ticket is a T fare, purchased in December. The flight is an MD88. Expertflyer shows the flight wide open... T9 availability, I'm the only seat assigned in F.

A random act of Diamond love?

You'd better watch your seat assignments during the next two months. If delta.dumb realizes its error, you could get stuck in a middle seat if the plane gets full around the same time.

Wow. That's weird. I wonder if anyone else has had a similar experience?

Good point, but aircraft changes seem to always mess up seat assignments on DL, even when there's no reason for them to change your seats.

I've only had this happen when a schedule change causes the ticket to be rebooked into full Y.

Then it should happen if you're a Medallion, but DL shouldn't rebook into full Y unless the original ticket was full Y, and then it should have already been upgraded if space had been available.

I hate when agents bump people up into full Y. It feels like they're stealing my upgrades instead of giving them real compensation that costs DL--rather than me--something when something has gone wrong.

This happened to me also, about a year ago if memory serves, but not so far out as yours - maybe around a month. In any event, the upgrade held just fine through at least one change. Might have been more - just don't remember. But, as others have noted, best keep a close eye on it.
