I am getting ready to book two rooms for Palazzo in Las Vegas with some ultimate reward points. Both my husband and I have platinum status with priority club. Is there a chance that we will be upgraded to a better room at check in? We are putting my dad in the other room but would book them in our names for platinum status if it helps. Any other benefits? If we book through UR, how do we get recognized as priority club platinum other than just telling them at check in?

I think Palazzo is an InterContinental Alliance ... which means Priority Club means nothing to them.

Best bet for vegas .. $20+ between your ID & Credit Card at checkin.

I'd say ~$40 for the Palazzo...

Every persona has different valuation for UR points. But booking a hotel with UR points is normally is pretty bad idea. The minimum value of UR is 1.66 cents per point... if you transfer to Southwest and book an award ticket.

Isnt the minimum 1.25? When you book through UR travel and use UR points to pay?

But booking @ the Palazzo for 1.25/point seems better than transferring them to IHG & using 50k+ for a night...

I was trying to point out that using UR points for 1.25c/point is probably a bad use. You can get atleast a 1.66c/point value by transferring to southwest

I just booked two rooms and I feel that I got a really good redemption for my Ultimate Rewards. 4 nights at the Palazzo (Saturday Night included) 63,782 points per room. It is much better to book straight through the UR travel site than to transfer the points to Priority club and then book. I am happy with this use of my points. I still have plenty left!

The point that was being made was that an alternative use of your UR points gives more bang for the UR point. With that being said, if your happy with your use of points.....then do what you want.

I would use them air travel, where you get the most "value" out of a UR point, but once again thats me. Also, there is a market for trading these to other frequent travelers with different needs, that also gets you more value on some occassions. Another way to look at is, the actual cost of the room for 4 days vs number of points. I use this methodology, sometimes 40k PC points can be worth 350 Euro, depending on going rates ect.

Now back to your question. Plat wont get you anything except the other checkin line. You can try a bribe, I'm not above that either, but this is Vegas and $20 doesnt do much for those folks.... I tipped my casino Host $40 last time i visited.

Thanks again for all the insight, but I am still happy with my redemption getting two very nice suites for the points that I used. I obtained theses points fairly quickly and still have a good bit more to use. We have used our UR points for flights and for nice hotel stays in the past and it always comes out to be a good value. Our flights are paid for with FF miles already. As far as the upgrade at check in, I have always used the $20 bribe and have always had luck with getting a room with a better room, at least. Sometimes even gotten a much better room. It is definitely worth trying every time. At the palazzo, it usually gets us a room with a view of the strip, which is nice. Because I just reached platinum with Priority Club, I didn't know if that would make any different with better checkins. Apparant not, from what I reading. I guess I will still with my $20. Thanks for all the help.

My experience at Palazzo is that IC Ambassador gets an upgrade and view of the Strip (even on high demand holiday weekends) as the hotel is an IC Alliance hotel, but simple PriorityClub Platinum status does not. And even a non-upgraded Palazzo suite is larger than my first apartment.
