I'm having an ubergeek day today, inspired by listening to the SFO tower on liveatc.net yesterday in the gym (very inspirational for a solid workout). Rain and wind has come to the Bay Area, and yesterday, as happens in the winter, landings were on the 19s. The unusual part is that takeoffs, which usually shift to the 10s in bad weather, were also from the 19s. I don't think I've ever seen a takeoff from that runway, although there is a YouTube of a plane taking off that way. Driving on 280 near SFO a couple of hours later, it was impossible to see the airport, but it must be something for the drivers on 101.

Just for giggles, if any of you are also geeking out, you can look at the monthly arrival/departure stats for SFO here.
