CHICAGO, July 26 -- United Airlines introduced a new, full-featured application for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch users that gives United and Continental customers easy access to book reservations, check in, access mobile boarding passes with one touch, get flight status details and manage their MileagePlus and OnePass accounts.

According to the App Store on my iPad the app is only for iPhone's. You can still download the app for iPhone on your iPad but it's not iPad ready yet

I downloaded this a few days ago to my iPad. Seems to work okay but resolution is definitely iPhone. Airport maps are pretty rudimentary and in most cases best left off the app.

Not sure what you mean. True, the fully zoomed-out view lacks some detail, but if you double-tap or pinch-to-zoom on a terminal you'll see gate numbers, facilities and names of shops/restaurants.

Interesting. After I first downloaded the app I check out a couple of airports (HKG, YYZ, IST) and only got grey outlines of the terminal buildings and nothing else. Just checked these again and see what you see. Very strange but much more useful than I first posted.

The Continental Android APP is Very Good. I suspect that this will remain as the CO / UA Android app.

Can you book UA flights on the CO app?

I get Continental flight number for UA-operated flights on the Continental Android App.

The advantage of a United App on Android would be the upgrade list, which Continental has, but cannot 'see' the United upgrade order.

The only other thing I would like to see on the CO app is the ability to D/L calendar entries to Google or Outlook calendars.

Using the CO Android App, I just checked into a CO flight I booked on .bomb using UAL flight numbers. It worked beautifully. I am so pleased that in order to get my e-boarding pass, all I need do is open the app, and call up the boarding pass from the home page of the app. No searching email or book-marking a URL to get the boarding pass. A few more tweaks and I vote this the app of the year.

It's been a long wait, but at least it finally came. I have added this to my Priority Club, Southwest, and Egencia apps!!!
