I have seen a few news articles last night/this morning that later today United will announce a nonstop flight from DEN to TYO to begin in early 2013. Yesterday I got an email from United celebrating their 75th anniversary of service to DEN. Last night Denver approved a ~$22m/year cut in lease costs for United at DEN, if they do not grow at least 4.5% by 2016 they must return all of the money. The timing of the announcement makes sense, but only time will tell, and it looks like that time will be later today.

Good news for Denver, indeed! (if it happens...)

Glad to see a new international route, especially after the cutbacks in recent years.

I think we will be seeing a lot more of these type of routes with the 787. Obviously IAH-AKL and just recently the United report on Hobby international implied that we may be seeing IAH-HKG and PVG.
