Contract of carriage says 50 lbs for a checked bag but i just printed boarding pass that says 40 pounds. which is correct? i have researched and simply cannot find a true answer. boarding tomorrow, 8/18/2012
Is it a domestic flight or international? Not sure what the answer is, but I'm thinking that the contract of carriage would rule and that perhaps more info would help get you some answers. Meanwhile, maybe try plugging your flight info in here http://www.united.com/CMS/en-US/travel/Pages/CheckedBaggage.aspx and see if that helps.
40 lbs would be new for any United flight I believe. I know the max for carry-on is 40 lbs occasionally, but I wouldn't think checked would be the same. Allegiant just lowered theirs to 40lbs (Carry-on is 25) so anything is possible I suppose. The website Sunshine7 posted would definitely be the way to go.
Thanks! That makes me feel better. Its a flight to Maui . That website tells me that our first checked bags are free. Again, thanks so much!
