Teh ECHR (European Court of Human Rights) has recently ruled that providing Dewar's to human beings for consumption violates the UN Convention on Human Rights, the Treaty of Rome, and international norms of basic decency. In the wake of that decision, the European Commission issued EC Directive SC-2137(a)(2)(ii)-b, which limits the commercial uses of Dewar's in the EU to degreasing of lift-turbines in sewage treatment plants and as an approved coolant for nuclear waste cooling pools. The UK recently rescinded its PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) status for Dewar's, ruling that the substance could no longer be called "Scotch" or ""Scottish Whisky," and ruling that the liquid no longer be served to inmates of correctional institutions. Moreover, the International Criminal Court in Teh Hague has recently taken up the case of one Yagadda B. Effingkiddingme, charged with providing Dewar's to individuals on CIA rendition flights to AMM, CAI, and other locales.

With its extensive European network at risk, surely United must be paying attention to recent events. Please, United, we beseech you, please stop implicitly (or intentionally) sanctioning the grotesque and unwarranted violation of your passengers' human rights before it is too late. We do not ask much, merely that you start provisioning drinkable Scotch on all flights.

    Signed,

    A Concerned Citizen

Yeah. They've got some fancy-ass vodka now, how about a real scotch. How about Lismore? Cheap and delicious.

As an aside, flew ANA SJC-NRT a few days ago and they poured Chivas for scotch. Out of a full bottle. In coach.

Would you like some of the Scoresby they're peddling in the Delta clubs?

Ah, I see someone has let some of our inmates out of the asylum.

    Teh Box, it is spreading.

I here I thought this was about their habit of cramming people into 3+ hour flights on CRJ-200s....

Perhaps, with the imposition of PQDs, United will invest some of teh savings into drinkable whiskey. Well .... maybe not.:p

The free Glenlivet I was just handed in whY on this AS flight only reinforces the error of UA's ways

I approve of this message. :D

I find it funny how, in threads like this, how people will suggest some random high-end or non-mainstream liquor as a replacement...the spirit has to be widely-distributed, cheap, and available in the mini-bottles. The suggestions made in the Tito's thread like Grey Goose, etc. made me laugh cuz they had zero chance of happening...scotch is one of the least-consumed spirits and one that is kind-of tough to find in mini-bottles.

I hold a tasty glass of scotch above all others, but the chances of UA going with a high-end scotch, let alone a tasty but midrange scotch like Chivas ain't gonna happen, IMHO...Glenlivet isn't going to happen either....unfortunately, Dewars probably makes the most sense to UA...:(

I hate, hate, hate Dewars...but it is better than Vodka. :D

    Why not?

AA and AS stock it on all flights, and UA already stocks it on international flights.

Why stock a liquor that costs $4 a bottle when you can carry one that is $3 (estimate) and charge the same? You know that UA has looked at the #'s and this works for them...same reason they stock Dewars in the UC's as well (for free). There are enough scotch drinkers around to where the need for a better spirit is certainly known to UA, but they won't change...I am talking about domestic, not international where the prices on everything are different.

Do AA and AS serve Glenlivet in Y as their main scotch?

Gawd, I want better scotch, too....but I don't have much faith in UA changing right now. :(

I just had a free Glenlivet in whY on AS as an MVPG perk on Friday. It's otherwise available for purchase in the main cabin by anyone. My last domestic flight on AA was in F about 6 weeks ago, but there was ample Glenlivet involved.

What is being stocked in international premium cabins? I don't recall ordering any scotch on my IST-EWR back in April.

Crown Royal is Canadian Whiskey, not Scotch. That's just pathetic that they are serving Dewar's to BF and GF passengers.
