Well, based on the forum postings,
    1) United is the clear leader with over 377k posts
    2) Delta is a distant 2nd with 38k posts
    3) American Airlines a close 3rd with almost 37k posts.

So are United fans happy or angry? :p

The vast majority of those posts are in the Penalty Box threads. Not only UA passengers in there but it certainly is a social bunch. It could easily be moved to a community forum and have the same relevance to its parent forum as it does in the UA forum today.

Sad to see just how little total content there is otherwise here.

Well, although removing those 3 threads will wipe out almost 320K posts, there are still with over 50k posts under United's banner.

    Big lead there.

Maybe I should try United sometime to see what I have been missing :)

From all the comments I have read about UA since I joined, I'd have to be in a position where every other airline either went on strike or cancelled all their flights before I'd touch a UA product. There are people who have had great experiences with them, but the complaints seem to outweigh those heavily (mostly because of customer service ineptitude or lack of knowledge by UA employees). This is only my opinion based on what I have read in the past year. *ducks from rotten tomatoes*

To be fair, there are people who complain about AA, and I have had nothing but (mostly) good experiences with them in the last few years. YMMV, as with any airline.

I think you can say this about any airline/hotel chain. Complaints outnumber compliments by a rather large margin. That's not specific to UA, AA, US, DL, BA, AF, etc.

Perhaps the Penalty Box has thus spoiled me to my opinion, but I've never heard more complaints about an airline that exceeded those from UA pax. :p

Take a look at TOBB. Pretty much all of it is people complaining, whining, and bitching. One reason I don't go over there anymore.

I've never been registered on TOBB and have no reason to visit since I have MP (and I'm happy here).

And if you dare to say anything that is not negative (not even positive, just not negative) you get raked over the coals. That is why I left there. Got told I didn't know what I was talking about, even though I was posting from IAH and saw it with my own eyes, yet the peanut gallery didn't want to hear the truth because that didn't agree with and verify their mock anger.

Some people would whine and complain if they won $500 million in the lottery and didn't even have to share it with other winners

I'm gonna go with angry, for sure. There are some bitter people on here and a lot of them fly United. I tried to say something positive about United once. I got called every name in the book and got accused of being a fake account for Jeff Smisek. I'm a United flier. I'm not super happy with them by any means but there are far worse airlines out there.

You're not missing a whole lot.

I've had the same thing happen to me posting comments on various travel blogs, too. Say anything positive about an airline, or defend them against the unreasonable and unrealistic expectations of others, and the pitchforks come out.

Can you imagine if United did what Delta just did today?? Holy hell. The MP servers would be overloaded with all the angry United fliers hate messages. Just standby because we all know it's coming.

What? You mean the revenue based system for elite status? UA started that on Jan 1.

Worse. Revenue based for mileage credit. It's painful for long haul (International) fliers like me who takes coach.

Now I see a more detailed explanation. Yikes. (USA today was a little slow with details as the first story didn't have all the details when I made my comment earlier)

I agree that there's a good chance UA will follow in DL's footsteps, but I don't think it's an absolute certainty. UA may decide to keep their program as is and use that to try to poach DL FFers. Furthermore, they may try to use the AA/US merger to do some poaching from there as well (admittedly, this is likely wishful thinking on my part). UA will ultimately do whatever it thinks will make it the most money, though, just like DL is doing now.

    Welcome to MP! :)

Why do you think UA pax are confused?
