    http://www.businessweek.com/ap/2012-09-05/united-airlines-cuts-more-2012-flying

From Businessweek, UA is cutting 2-3% from September onwards, up from the original amount of 1 to 2% in the fourth quarter.

Definitely noticed more cutbacks at MHT especially on weekends. I can't see the cutbacks at BOS currently though -- the schedules still seem pretty good for the fall, at least for the places I'll be traveling to and through...

SFO-MMH isn't loaded at all (except fares were loaded last I checked), so I'm not sure what's happening there at all.

Looking at that report, the company is comparing themselves to the "industry" defined as DL, US, AA and WN for capacity. They're excluding all the carriers growing capacity (including B6, VX and AS) to make it look like they're not much different than the others. Pretty misleading.

And for P/E ratios they add AS and B6 in. Talk about a moving target.

I know they cut some CLE stuff as I had schedule changes but that was a few weeks ago

The city of Mammoth Lakes went bankrupt earlier in the year and I suspect the subsidy for the SFO/SAN-MMH routes were cut. I think they were able to put enough money together to retain the more-established QX service to LAX but there probably is not enough to keep the SkyWest flights which were new last season.

I'm well aware of this, but it doesn't necessarily mean the subsidies are gone (depends on the contract and the courts). Problem last year was too little snow. It's the only practical way to see my dad in winter, though.

Even a bomber season like 2009-2010 probably wouldn't be enough to turn around the finances in Mammoth Lakes. The rapid, heavily leveraged investments in the resort that fell through along with the capital markets over the last few years contributed to the situation far more than a bad snow year last season. Anyway, it looks like the city will find a way to keep the QX service, but I doubt UAX will return. The LA link is far more important in terms of traffic, anyway. I'm not sure how successful the SFO/SAN/SNA flights were last year, especially with higher-cost CR7s.

I know this thread talks about 2012 flying, but starting January 2013, PHX-SFO is down to two flights per day. A morning A319 to support the Asian departures bank, and a evening A319.

I guess they're going to rely on US to pick up the slack...

This makes a lot of sense, IMO. A lot of PHX fliers would rather take US, so might as well let them operate the route.

I fly EWR-PHX all the time to visit my parents and I most decidedly will NOT be using US instead. Guess I'll continue to route myself through SFO and/or IAH for more PQM's :D

Seems to me that ORD-BRU and v.v. is going away too, at least it did when I checked a while back.

UA is cutting back on some frequencies for the TATL operation but it's nice to see them resume the SFO-CDG service and SFO-TPE as well.

SFO-PVG has been around for a while; you mean SFO-TPE.

    Dude, where's my flight?
The former Continental Airlines East Bound "red-eyes" out of LAX have gone the way of the Buffalo, they have literally been cut in half.
