    seems like whenever he said "you'll like it", it really means "I, J.$, will like it"

    Whatever happened to CEOs stating that if the company doesn't make money, I wont make money.

    I am not a big fan of excessive executive compensation. But this $13.4 million was his compensation for 2011, i.e., the statement that he has tripled his compensation from last year is wrong on two fronts (the other one is that the board sets the CEO compensation).

    Well... the article sort of answers that, too.

    "United earned $840 million in 2011 and $253 million in 2010 after losing $6 billion the previous two years combined."

    United made money in 2010 and 2011.
