Full press release here.
Makes the rounds today and tomorrow - http://flightaware.com/live/flight/N475UA
The paint would have looked better on a 752 IMO.
Here it is:
Oh, thank God. Not a PowerPoint globe in sight.
I thought they just voted on the scheme, didn't know they voted on the plane. It was originally slated to be a 752.
Agreed. I don't think the employees had anything to do with choosing the aircraft.
Also, the image in the OP requires credentials of some sort; it isn't for public use.
I've noticed that pop-up, but I think it's an error. The image I posted was downloaded from here.
I was hoping for the 80s technicolor striping and Epcot lettering, but that would have to acknowledge the tulip actually existed.
It's because the OP's image is from PRNewsWire which requires login to use their images.
http://www.unitedcontinentalholdings.com/photos/medium/85th_Anniversary_Friend_Ship_1-medium.jpg should be used instead.
The advance picture had an A320 with "757 Friend Ship" lettering, which was strange. This looks gd, though. I can't wait to see it!
Yours isn't the OP.
Not bad...but wish it was on a 757...or a 738/9 (though I know that is not a legacy UA aircraft, I think this CS would look better on it)
Looks like initially it is hitting the hub cities: IAH, IAD, LAX, SFO, DEN, ORD.
What's the over/under on the time until this plane has mismatched engine parts?
I'm going with two weeks.
LOL...ill go with 3 months.
Good thing the CO RetroJet nacelles are the same color as the rest of the fleet...
Some photos for ya.
All four of United's extant liveries are represented in this pic... nice!
this is like a king celebrating his birthday by ordering himself a costly jewelry. What about spreading some love among its loyal subjects!
Very cool...any interior pics?
Yes and no. It is a marketing effort. It has the media - and the public by extension - talking about United and their long history. Is that better than knocking $0.10 off a million fares? Probably, and it has the same net effect on the bottom line.
I do not believe the interior is any different than any other A320 flying.
I agree that the paint scheme would look better on almost any boeing aircraft vs. an airbus
very cool! wish it was a Boeing.
So no bars, lounges, and the like? What a let down.
Agreed. Plus Boeing was around when that paint scheme was in place. Airbus? Not so much.
