Free meals in EC on transcons??!!

It's a real, genuine improvement to the customer experience that will be valued by more than bubba and his small group! This really is amazing!

Now, by itself this doesn't make it worth flying DL and dealing with the nightmare of SM, but it would be nice if UA would do this.....

This has nothing to do with Skymiles. The airline itself is, by US standards, a pretty good operation.

About SM, even if were true, why exactly does that matter except for purposes of censorship/gatekeeping? I disagree with that view anyway. I see the provision of product, hard and soft, as part of a total value package for air travel. Meals are a part of the trade off - valueless SM but free food if a pax flies DL TCON, that's a valid analysis compared with, say, UA, who for the same trip (TCON, E+) offers valuable MP but no food. I am not the only one. Why else do these boards/blogs exist, if not to analyze/discuss the entire package of value that includes the FFP?

DL did improve one small aspect of their product and I acknowledge it here.

DL does run an efficient physical operation, I'll agree with that. I also agree with Jeff Robbo himself, that SM is mejor en su clase.

Sorry if I was not clear, I was not making an 'administrative point' (that this is somehow off-topic for the forum).

Rather I was saying it shouldn't surprise you that Delta did this. Improvements to the Skymiles program, those always surprise! But offering a quality inflight product (by US airline standards) is actually pretty par for the course.

Free meals in EC, but these wraps are running for $9.49 in economy

Or you could look at it the other way -- $10 sandwiches in coach.

    Just wondering:
All Gold medallions and above can choose a EC seat at no cost for US travel.
Free sandwiches for EC on transcontinental flights
If the EC seats are all out at the time of booking, can a hungry Elite still request for a free sandwich while sitting in coach for transcontinental flights?
Just trying to manage my expectations

    Thanks.

I still remember the days when the sandwiches in coach were Atlanta Bread Company and were worth the money.

I bet not...because it will be catered, max, @ the number of EC seats.... other sandwiches will be for-sale only.

Yes, but folks complained about they weren't good so Delta "fixed" that.

Kinda like they are "fixing" the over-crowding problem in the SkyClubs.

Right now I am almost 180 from almost everybody around here. I don't care at all about the food, I like the attempt to "fix" the SkyClub overcrowding and, most egregiously, I like the idea of MQDs. :p

I wonder what the effect of the MQD will be on reducing the number of DM, thus reducing club population?
