Ultra-Orthodox Jews cause '11-hour long nightmare' on board flight to Israel
As a member of the tribe I find these scenarios appalling.
Shana Tova to all & Happy 5775!
On well the usual antics of Israel's version of the Taliban.
How was this an 11 hour ordeal? Did it really take that long to swap some seats around??
It's odd IMHO that they had to swap seats in the first place, oh I see, it's all about religion. As always, this makes the news more interesting in certain ways.
Depends on how we look at it and what people accept in the name of religion.
However, to play devil's advocate (who me! ) they knew they were flying on a plane. Was it not a possibility to made a request ahead of time to have their requests met? I do not know - is that being too wishful thinking?
It made for a good headline.
I haven't read the article, but I suspect the 11 hrs include the actual flight time, given
"descended into an “11-hour long nightmare” after ultra-orthodox Jewish passengers on board refused to sit next to women, delaying take-off and causing further disruption during the flight."
In other news, I just became the founder of a new religion that is extremely orthodox. On most days of the year our belief system doesn't allow us to sit near anyone who weighs more than 120 lbs, is older than 35 years old or younger than 18, has smoked in the last five days or used perfume or carries fast food items as part of their carry-on luggage.
I am the devil in your religion or at least one of them
What if there were members of another religious group on board who can only spend time with other people who are seated so that males and females alternate throughout the entire room? The plane could never leave the ground?
Would anyone care to make a guess whether the religious men wanted to sit in the front or the back of the aircraft?
Can I take that you didn't read the linked article ... which clearly said that their antics resumed after the seatbelt light was switched off ...not really sure how some here can jump to conclusion that the story was "overdramatized" Do you in any shape or form sympathize with their behavior???
My religion requires me to sit in F and have expensive French champagne.
So if I write in this thread does that mean half the males here will refuse to write in this thread now?
Only the left side of the males ...
At CES biggest show in Vegas, they close their booths on Saturday as millions of buyer walk by.
They spend thousands to get there and set up..
Got to give them credit, they do believe.
Course after they fail 3 times, no more help...
If ISIS has half the faith, God help the Christians.
Got to have respect for them and their religion.,
Depends on whether you meet the proximity exclusion criteria of my religion outlined in post #14
Therefore I started an new sect of your religion and amend the weight to be between 120-145 lbs. we also worship the devils only on Mondays.
While I am certain that you do not truly mean what you have stated, I do not think that referring to anyone from Israel in the same light as the Taliban is remotely correct or humorous. I like to think that there are good and bad in all groups, but I can't find anything good or humane about the Taliban. They are as evil as evil can be.
As the leader of a more fundamentalist sect of pious buffalo we enjoy quaffing martinis whenever the urge arises. But we shall send rage and menace to any who purchase inferior olives.
