    Hi all,
My apologies for not calling the Service Center first (I am overseas and we can't dial out to 1-800 numbers, and email support just doesn't work with United ....) So while I know I will eventually have to have a friend back in the States call on my behalf, maybe someone else has run into this?

Just got my new itinerary for flights on 5 MAR (NAP-MUC-IAD) and 7-8 MAR (IAD-MUC-NAP). United recognizes the confirmation code, and recognizes that I am a Platinum Executive, but when I go to select seats, the system wants to charge me $99 for economy plus. Never happened before, but must have something to do with the merger. Anyone figure out a workaround or does the customer service center have to reserve the seat for me in order for me to not get charged?

    Thanks in advance,
    dave

You may know this already, but Skype not only lets you call Us toll free numbers from abroad, but the call is even free.

I would add that google voice does the same thing, to ALL US numbers.
