First, I want to apologize for asking a rather dumb question.

My family and I are flying from EWR-SEA and we will have a lot of checked bags since I'm headed back home from college. When I look at my reservation online, it's telling me that each passenger under the reservation will get two free checked bags. However, only two of us have status, *G and *S with OZ. Not sure if this is a glitch on the system?

Depending on what credit card you have or what your status is on UA , your able to extend your Baggage allowance to the passengers on the same PNR.

Technically you get 3x 70lbs on UA as Star Gold. :)

Or is that for International? Hmm...

    All flights.

I'm not sure how it applies to embargo flights; I think that the embargo limits override the elite benefits.

IME, embargo flights do not override elite benefits. What they have meant to me is that I can't go over the allowance at any price. As I have whined here before, that doesn't change anything for me, as I won't pay $400 for one bag that is over 70 pounds. :)

There are (or at least were) some instances where the embargo threshold was at 50#, not 70#. That's more what I was thinking there.

If they are on the same PNR, your companions should get the allowance as well. Also, if you booked others with flight miles from your UA account, they will also get your status perks.

This is from the website under fee waivers for luggage from the Premier Benefits chart:
Customers traveling with MileagePlus Premier members or dependents traveling with active U.S. military personnel will have the same exemption as the customer whose status provides for the benefit, as long as they are traveling in the same reservation. This exemption will not apply to group reservations including 10 or more customers.
I do not see a specification of how many traveling companions are covered, but it may well be up to 9.
