Anyone know where this happened at SEA? I'm quite surprised that a replacement flight left SEA so quickly last night... pretty impressive, actually - less than a 2 hour delay. (unless I ready that totally wrong).

Perhaps they had an aircraft available that was supposed to stay overnight in SEA for an early morning flight?

I understand that part. I'm more surprised that after evacuating a flight, they were able to get people re-boarded onto a flight in under two hours... airplane available or not. Just seems pretty fast, IMO.

The replacement aircraft did, indeed, leave the gate with just an hour-and-a-half delay:

And the bags moved. Assuming they did that. Perhaps it was just a flesh wound, and they just wiped the extra oil off the APU and flew the original plane. After all, the A in APU stands for Auxiliary, so it can't be that important, no? :D

The article states that the airplane was towed to cargo services for investigation and repairs... Doesn't mean they didn't pull it out and put the pax back on it!

Although, SEA usually has quite a few 757s, as its a major cargo hub for UA. (Also makes it a strategic destination to get UG's even as a 2P).

That plane was almost certainly taken out of service for overnight inspection and repairs.

Indeed they swapped aircrafts at Seattle, there are several RONS (Airplanes that sit overnight) at Seattle.
