Those are going to be some sad days. Today's FA on my CO flight had a wristband on that said EX-CON on one side.

We knew this was coming, but it sure doesn't make it any easier to stomach. My sympathies go out to the 500 employees who are losing their livelihoods due to the merger.

I think this is a sentiment that is becoming widely held. No doubt this is going to be a very, very bumpy ride...

This is very sad news, although not unexpected.
I fear there is more to come throughout the rest of the system as departments are integrated...

Art, agree with you. Bottom line -- layoffs suck and it's awful to be effected by one, but this goes hand in hands with mergers. Best of luck to those effected.

Out of curiosity anyone know how many employees in Houston?

Interesting how the letter says "Approximately 500 employees will be separated from employment..."

Any news of similar cuts from UA? Seems like the layoffs should be split between the two legacy staffs...

How insulting to phrase it that way. Cut the BS, Jeff.

My Dad was a TWA employee who retired in 1989 at age 55. Many of his friends and colleagues were still around for the AA "merger." Ouch.

  16. Wow so sorry to hear the news.

Happens with every merger but so difficult to hear words like "redundancy" when you are talking about people's lives.
    Good luck to all affected.

This FA should be fired. Wearing that is not being a team player.

A few years ago some of the pil:(ts pulled a similar wristband stunt. I believe theirs said, "FUPM." The last two w:(rds of this were, "Pay Me." That showed extremely poor form IMHO.

Didn't CO make a big deal about how they weren't going to downsize their other hubs as part of this merger? or am I thinking about how worried CLE was?

They're not downsizing their hub, but corporate non-airport staff.

Sorry to hear this, I much preferred CO versus UA, unfortunately the backroom ops staff are duplicated in some areas.

I'm wondering how much, if any, was technology related. If I remember correctly CO outsourced a lot of IT dev work but the systems stuff was in house (I could have all that backward). May be an insight into which web experience is staying.
