Has anyone been able to score UA old logo items?
Like the red carpet or signs at airports?
I'd bet that they're all going to go the way of the electric car in california, all crushed up somewhere in the middle of the desert...so they can't interfere with the brand transition.
However, I'd love it if they'd put them up for sale somewhere.
That would be nice. I have some 1940's United tickets and brochures with the old old logo. Pretty cool stuff!
I've already witnessed the wilting tulips... especially at ORD:
But they're going to have to remove the "UNITED" sign, too, aren't they? The font has changed. I never quite understood why they did that since keeping the CO logo was supposed to help reduce the cost of changing brands (mostly painting planes, I imagine). Changing the font adds another thing that can't be saved, even if there were few instances where it would do any good.
I'm sure that just got knocked off unintentionally, or by someone who wanted a Tulip for their collection
I might have to turn into that "someone"... I'd love a tulip for my collection.
My snagging of UA Tulip items came at the Family Day last year, as they were making an effort to get rid of anything with the old logo. In addition to posters I also purchased a nice pint glass and the t-shirt with all of the previous logos of United.
Do these count?
The United Shop still has Tulip motif merchandise. And some are discounted pretty heavily.
But it's not the carpet
Maybe I'm old fashioned but I would wear a shirt or jacket or use a pen with the Tulip logo as a way to remember the old United, versus having airport signs and carpets in my house ;-)
i want a carpet
In the SFO RCC this morning they told me that they took away all the ticket envelopes the other day. They don't have any--even with the bingo cage on it! The red carpets are still there though.
CO has not use ticket jackets for a few years now. I don't think the New UA will be bringing them back.
Isn't there an auction annually that CO does with their items?
do you need to be an employee of united to buy off of that website?
I've got a 1:100 scale UA 777 model on my desk. Friends with the station manager at my local airport. We've got an agreement
Same situation at NRT last week. The agent at the first class check in counter apologized for not having the ticket envelopes. I was glad to hear when the agent said she was disappointed that the tulip was replaced; guess it's not only the passengers missing the tulip.
FRA had them on Sunday. Good thing I've got 300 of the ticket jackets
I would love to pick up something with the Tulip
