    Hello,

I have been trying to figure out which Frequent Flyer Program I should adopt. I think I want as a goal to try and get lifetime status on United, which I know requires United butt-in-seat miles. My question is whether or not it is possible to fly on United metal but credit miles to another FFP (such as Asiana)? I know that for lifetime miles it's BIS non-award miles, but not sure if one actually has to credit to United Mileage Plus to get credit for lifetime miles...my suspicion is that you do, but would welcome clarification.

    Thanks!

Think this way. If you credit to another program, why should UA bother
to keep track of your itineraries? It would require a lot of unprofitable
effort on UA's part; and if there were some arcane reason to do so,
that would be an invasion of privacy, and UA would not be benefited
by letting you even know about it.

Yes you need to credit your flight/miles to MP to have them count toward lifetime status.

and as a reminder, you don't earn lifetime BIS miles for flights credited to MP on other *A carriers (including UA codeshares)
