looking at flights ex-BRU this summer. looks like availability into EWR on 772 into ORD on 767 or into IAD on a 772 which one to choose? 767 to ORD for best bets on having the new F suite since not all the 772s are done converting? i suppose another option i could also do ex-FRA on 747 into ORD...
F suite availability is a moot point if you're looking to upgrade from coach, as you can't upgrade to F from Y. If you're looking to upgrade to F from C, that works. If you're using miles, IMHO save your miles and take the BRU-EWR 772 in BusinessFirst.
To assure that you get the new C or F, book either the UA 767 or 747, or take the CO flight out of Newark for Business First.
The ex-EWR 777 is listed as sUA metal (CO/UA 960/961), so you'll have the same issue of not knowing whether you'll have a converted cabin or not. If you are looking for full flat seats, why not consider flying brussels airlines? They are going to have full flat seats in C on their A333 service to JFK starting this June.
AH, I forgot this route went to sUA metal... in that case, i'd definitely go through ORD to catch the 767 for guaranteed F lie flat F or C. Otherwise, you could route through FRA to catch up with any sCO 772 or sUA 747.
thanks those last 2 posts clarify a lot i am mostly looking to maximaize my mileage experience, i dont get to sit up front often. I havent seen any availability for awards on Brussels AIrlines but i will keep looking, its a july trip so it might work! the EWR comment had me super confused but your f/u on using the 767 ORD makes sense now and was my original inclination.
how does OS biz out of VIE compare on their 772 compare? that would be a way to save miles from UA F from BRU. that could work....i have trouble finding trip reports or any review for OS on web
OS C is angled lie flat, similar to the LH product. If you can get the A333 or a refurbished A343, LX would be another option for C. They have true lie flat seats.
I see C availability in July for SN (brussels airlines) though it is through the Miles and More program. They might open it up for Star Alliance Awards as you get closer to July. False alarm Looks like the actual availability shown in M&M is not for the non-stop flight. As you were
The UA-metal flights from EWR had been using 767s. I'm amazed that they're selling enough seats to justify a 777. This is going to get very confusing. FWIW, the seat maps I pulled all showed new 777 configs, but it's a crapshoot as to whether or not that will last. I concur with some earlier posts about one detail: if you can get CO BizFirst, do it. Great seat, fewer miles. See my review of BizFirst.
UACO Marketing has touted the Newark-Brussels service with the IPTE although I do see some dates that have the old configuration... I beg to differ since they are marketing the route heavily with the new IPTE.
