I love beta testing software... but hardware... that I am sitting in... at 37k ft?
Where did you see in the article that is only for UA Elites? It says it will be available to UA frequent flyers: "United Continental Holdings today launched MileagePlus Headliners, an auction program that lets frequent fliers of the newly merged United and Continental Airlines use their miles to bid for experiences such as trips and tickets to theater and sporting events."
Nice to see they're doing more than just the sports auctions. 2 hours on simulator time, 787 flight are all fun things for an airline geek. (With that said, I'm sure they'll all end up being far more miles than most of us would consider bidding)
Ah come on , be brave
Well, yeah, fortunately that other famous Seattle-area company isn't building the dreamliners, so I suppose it's reasonably safe even in the v1.0 version
Mhmm...I'd definitely bid for a seat on the inaugural UACO 787 Flight myself.
Would love to have a seat on the 787 delivery flight but I would have a problem giving up a lot of miles for the ride.
What's the current going rate (miles) for the flight
Upon a close look I'd say 1 Billion SkyPesos... Oh wait wrong program, perhaps 200-400k?
I wonder how much tickets will cost in $ as opposed to miles on the 787 flight. Or do you think it'll be miles only?
its not listed yet. No time table for specific delivery yet.
especially plastic hardware.....
Its for mileagePlus members only. I guess they assume anyone who is a member of the plan is to some level an elite.
Cool. I would love to go on the UA 787 first flight.
Given that thousands of people have flown it already, you're hardly in the position of beta testing it.
They did a similar auction for a 737 delivery flight (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/cont...-auctions-737-delivery-flight-experience.html). I don't remember how much it went for but someone provided a report at one point.
Considering that these will be as common as 767s in the not too distant future, I couldn't see parting with miles that could be used for F travel to CPT, HKG, SYD, etc., just to be the first to ride on a particular airline's 787.
What one company calls beta another calls 1.0. But yeah, I was just joking around...
I'd love to do it, just not for hundreds of thousands of miles (that I don't have).
jeez, that would be awesome
Its a trap!!!
Isn't that why we do this...??
