Per UA Insider (See this post: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/26115498-post1.html)

It is intended for people with kids under 2 years of age.
    Starts Feb-15th.

Group-1 will soon become more like group-3 or 4 (Disabled pax, Families, Military, GS; then Group-1)

Why not a group for those over the age of say 70yrs. Then perhaps a group for groupies, and a group for "fans of UA", of course that group would probably be very small, and on and on. While I realize that the military should be honored, not sure why they should board first or second, if UA is so proud of them why not give them E+ for free, instead of just letting them board first to get to their E- seat.

    At age 75, I should go first...agree.

No problem with the Military first, in my younger days many chose service over jail time.

Families with kids, mom and pop, and all the rest of the klan seems to jump in the bunch.

I really do not care, as long as I have a seat.near the bathroom...

Boarding kids early makes sense, as it takes families a little more
time to get settled in, but only if there's a substantial gap between
them and others who would be boarding into the same area. Some
airlines, cough, you know who you are, have in the past preboarded s
low parties (passengers in need of assistance, families with small
children, and anyone who needs additional time going down the jetway
before first class, which strikes me as the most painless way to get them
aboard. And after those people have cleared, F should board, not the
whole group 1, to give the preboarders a little more of a cushion before
the hordes (not wholly derogatory, I'm often one of them) swarm in.

Is this not the way they did this in olden times?

I'd agree with the idea of giving military in uniform E+, and maybe having
them board whenever they like, as they're likely to be more efficient and
not clog up the aisles much.

I doubt UA would ever give the military complimentary E+ that would cost them money which I am sure would make their shareholders a bit angry, but it could be done at the gate prior to boarding if E+ was available after all paid E+ customers had be accommodated.

I understand why they should pre board, let them take the extra time they need..

Why not treat them like the wheelchairs, and let them get off last, like the wheelchairs ...that way the others will not be delayed.

First on, need extra time, last off...take all the time you guys need...many of us has another plane to catch..
