    Anyone want to speculate on the details? (Shamelessly follow the Hyatt thread :) )
    20 Silver, 20 Gold, 20 Platinum, 10 1K and 1 GS up to grab, but how?

    Have to have your cowboy hat and be spotted with it to be eligible

    That's why Tommy Class is worth the price this year... you'll need that extra space to wear your 1K-winning hat.

    What happened to people who won a status last time equal to or lower than the status they've already earned? For example, if somebody with Premier Gold wins Silver, do they give you any sort of compensation? Is Gold + Silver worth Platinum?

    That's a great question, I plan on being at least platinum by November, so I'm not sure what I would get out of this (though it's really generous for UA)

    If I'm not mistaken, UA status prizes were transferable at the launch party.

    That was how I heard it.
    After I won the Silver prize. And then the Gold prize. :)

    After the SMD4 gets sorted, I'm sure they will get back to us with some more details on this.

    Don't you have to buy a "SMD hat" to qualify for free status?

    Also, I'm really hoping for a incentive to fly (DEQM or TRDM) as opposed to just free status.

    I wonder if it could simply be:

    Silver = additional 25000 PQMs
    Gold = additional 50000 PQMs
    Platinum = additional 75000 PQMs
    1K = additional 100000 PQMs

    Not sure how this will benefit me if I have Platinum already, but the additional jump and/Upgrade vouchers may be worthwhile. I'm sure others would rather gift status.

    In the net, would it matter to United? I guess SWUs cost them more than a couple extra silver members running around, but I can't imagine that many folks on the charter will benefit from silver or possibly gold, but many will from 25k extra miles.

    Thoughts?

    For me, it matters. That is the choice between flying some on UA next year instead of put everything on AA basket. Although, if TOD upgrade continues, I wouldn't mind to be a non-elite member as of now. :)

    This is certainly preferable to the customers, for adding to your existing status and qualify for SWUs. But as everyone on the charter already gets at minimum 5000 PQMs, perhaps this could be more palatable to United if this is what they awarded:

    20000 PQMs = 20 winners
    40000 PQMs = 20 winners
    60000 PQMs = 20 winners
    100000 PQMs = 10 winners
    Global Service + 100000 PQM = 1 winner

    Any word on when they are going to release the information? Got some trips coming up and have to decide to burn some miles or buy the tickets.

    The wait is killing me. We need to finalize some of the travelling plans for the 2nd half of the year and the holidays and this is not helping. Even the positioning flights from ORD back to LAX is undecided.

    I usually make flex flight plans pending final confirmation fr the MegaDo specials.

    Same as I do with everything else... First totally flex, just so I'm booked, then less flex, finally the non refundables once I know exactly what is happening. I don't lock in till I know.

    Let's just hope that United accidentally offers a Global Services challenge for flying 4 miles.

    I think United has to offer something pretty good this time around because they know that the OneWorldDO is coming up in January and AA might offer something again. From reading on the blogs, it seems that AA's EXP challenge last time was pretty successful and a lot of people took AAdvantage of it.

    I thought actually that the number was less than I would have expected... But there were a number of new AA flyers on the DO, and at least a few that I know, have continued to fly AA since then, and in talking to people from AA, they have been really happy with the feedback and results!

    Prior to OWMD, I never even had an AAdvantage account. Now, I fly nothing but AA when in the US or flying routes they serve, unless I really have to.

    With Suzanne saying to him 'wijomas! You've got to stop flying AA you're costing us money!' ;)

    At least he lives in a non-AA destination, so there are only so many months he can spend here draining their money ;)

    I dunno. He seems quite happy burning AA miles on QF metal via SYD to get there and do more damage:)

    Any updates on this? Trying to book some flights through the end of the year and deciding between United and American. AA is my typical go to because of platinum status, but a good United challenge could entice me to switch over :)
