First time ever cancelling an itinerary within the 24 hour period. It's been a week and no posting to credit card, for those that have done this before how long does it usually take for UA to do a refund? Don't want to call them if it is not necessary.

The last one I did took seven days!
The initial charge went through and then the refund came through just before the statement closed. Whew!

My statement date is the 18th so I do have about 10 business days to go. Hopefully I will get it by then, may call a few days prior if I need to.

Even if you were closer to the statement end date, most credit cards would allow you to dispute the transaction online (or via phone if you prefer) so you would get a conditional credit until UA processed the reversal.

For most credit cards (all I have used) if a credit posts to your account after the statement closes you don't have to pay it in your next bill.

This. It's not really a big issue, it just makes the number look larger than it is.

If this is the case then I would want to verify this with Visa, have never never paid any interest on my credit card account and I don't want to start now. Thanks for the info

I have printed out the refund notice from UA so perhaps Visa would want this faxed to them which would be no problem, will wait until I am closer to the statement date.

Is the amount large enough that you can't just pay it and be credited when the refund clears?

$1250.00 I could pay it, but would rather use it to rebook the trip with different dates.

Did you choose the option to refund the money to the original form of payment or is it sitting as a credit in the UA systems? I'd call and confirm that before waiting too much longer.

Or go into the refunds section of UA.com and search by ticket number.

When I go to cancelled itineraries, it says "refunded" but will give them a call to make sure that in fact it is sitting somewhere. It says nothing about a credit.

I had to call UA to process one of my reward reservations that I canceled on Thursday.

Ugh, wonder if I'll have to do that with mine. I canceled and redeposited Friday, still not in my account.

I just called UA and the agent told me 5 to 7 business days, this is the 6th business day for me. He said definately by Friday or earlier. I tried to go on line to refunds but it specifically states that if it is a e-ticket refund from a cancelled itinerary within in the 24 hour period to call, not to use the on line refunds.
