Tonight I noticed that the UA website is now showing the all in fare instead of the base fare for ticket prices. It is great to have that back again! Ahead of schedule too!

Just in time for the obsolescence of the site :)

They probably just had to uncomment some code from the good old days.

The feds have changed the fare advertising requirements and all sales channels should be showing it that way within the next few days/weeks.

I assume that's what Pat89339 was alluding to by "ahead of schedule" :)

I like it b/c it is easier to figure and will force WN to actually show real fares instead of their ridiculous but funny dribble they put out. It seems I am contantly seeing ads on TV for 59 fares one way and even if I instantly click my laptop I can't find anything near that price and end up booking UA anyway as free bags is not a cost for me on UA.

I think everyone finds all inclusive pricing a very nice thing. It's slightly less of an issue for domestic flights (taxes are generally a fairly small fixed value whereas international taxes can be as much or more than the ticket) but still a nice change.

However, the two things you mention are entirely unrelated:
-You still have those 59 fares. Now you just have all inclusive 75 fares. (There's still very limited supply of them)
-WN pricing perceptions are largely due to opting out of price comparison websites, not something about how they do their inventory (you have fewer buckets, but similar process).

The bad thing about All In pricing is when you gotta burn that $200 ecert and need to see the costs pretax to earn your miles :)

Bingo! That's exactly it. :) I'm glad you understand my shorthand. :D
Now you just click on the same old link (price breakdown) you used to use find out what the all in pricing was. :D

Thank God! I loved the days when the price it showed was the price you paid. Of course I understand why they changed it, but it is so nice to have it back.

My swim team is going to ATL in March, WN will start service DEN-ATL about a month before that, they are all so pumped for the $99 o/w fares (which aren't even available any more), I'm sure they will be shocked when they end up paying an extra 20% on top of the "price".

Indeed, it is now. It wasn't about 12 hours ago though as I was still seeing $79 fares for the $120 LGA-PDX sale.

WN is subject to the same rules as UA in this case, meaning that they will also be accurately advertising the all-in prices.

They were all expecting to pay $198 because of all the WN ads the the month before this change, but a/i it's around $250, so I was saying they will be shocked when they go to actually by the tickets and the prices are so much more than they were expecting.
