Chicago and Houston to Atlantic City, 1 a day to each hub starting April 1, 2014 (not an April Fool's joke it looks like):

Chicago is 720 miles on an E145, Houston is 1345.

Times of day suck! Should be late morning/noonish from ORD/ IAH , returning from ACY mid-afternoon to arrive early evening.

It's nice to finally see some choice at ACY. I think ACY-IAH should be at least a larger regional though --E170 or CRJ 700 but it's still a improvement from nothing and a great boost for acy airport.

Interesting... a nice option for ORD-based people that want to gamble and don't want to trek to Vegas, although it's not quite the same.

    Understatement of the day.

My in-laws live just south of AC in Cape May... they're there all the time, along with quite a few of my friends. They never seem to understand why I never go and would rather spend 5 hours on a plane to go to Vegas.

    :)

That's not comparing apples and oranges, that's comparing apples and rocks (or apples and durian, take your pick). And the ORD folks could just go to DTW, Windsor, Indiana, etc.

Agreed... but they obviously think there's a market for it, no? Or is there that much interest from business folks along that route that UA felt they needed to add these daily flights?

I'm not sure it's all about AC tourism, I'm sure this will be a welcome thing for people in the 609 who don't want to go to Philly or EWR.

Westjet tried a YYZ-ACY nonstop using a B737 in 2010 which didn't last too long then. It wasn't a daily flight and I don't think they kept it going for even a full year before throwing in the towel on that route. Had they tried it through a full summer season for the vacation travelers it might have had better loads.

UA's new schedule makes it impossible for connections from YYZ-ORD-ACY without an overnighter in ORD, so it's a waste for us. Prefer LAS anyway!

And it is dead. Last day of service is 2 December 2014. Here's the statement from UA:

I am soooooo surprised! The first I heard of the route was the shut down notice, great advertising plan UA! As a "local" I would have tried it anything the not have to use the fourth world phl.

No wonder it (ACY / IAH - ORD) died, dead, dying, gone! I just looked at the pricing of using ACY instead of EWR or PHL and it is 50% higher and they are those lovely little 145s. On the plus side you have the undivided attention of the FA - with booked seats in the 3 - 8 per FLT!

At least 7-10 were were a group headed to NJ for a family reunion, and some of that group were UA employees.
