The 777 UA 875/876 flights between SEA and NRT were always the easiest to upgrade and typically had lots of open seats.

In light of the recent announcement by ANA of starting up flights between NRT and SJC and SEA, I wonder if United will continue flying this route?

The time will be ripe to dump it, much to the angst of the very senior FA base in SEA.

They'll just have to commute & join the "Wide Body's" in SFO!

I doubt it goes away. Might shift to a 2-cabin config (though I can see Tokyo as one of the few stations keeping 3-cabin) but I doubt it dies. I believe there is decent cargo on the route which doesn't hurt at all.
