I am going to outsmart al Qaeda the next time I go to Europe. I will not use my American passport and instead travel as an Israeli.

That should keep me safe. :D

Better yet, tell AQ you're a regular on the FT TS/S forum, that'll keep you safe.

I always agree with being conscious of our surroundings but I will never give in to these terrorists. I was willing to fly on the anniversary of Sept 11, and will continue living my life and traveling no matter what threats these selfless people make.

Part of the point of releasing some kind of warning like this isn't solely to protect people, so many times everyone gets caught up in that.

People (including the media) tend to forget that issuing such warnings is a tactic to say to the would-be attackers "we're on to you" in a public way.

Oh c'mon Rhett Butler... It's easy take a look... American = 8 Letters and Canadian is 8 Letters... Granted both have the same number of vowels however when one says Israeli there's also the same number of vowels :p

By saying Naa, you've allowed the Terrorists to win!

Do you still have the link for this? I checked CNN and the State Department website and couldn't find it on either. I'm not doubting you but I track these travel warnings and have not seen one specifically for Europe in about a year.
Just wondering if I missed it. The State Department only issues alerts (which are different from the more severe warnings) for short-term but significant risks against human life or major political events, neither of which I can decipher is going on in Europe right now(except for the debt crisis but I doubt AQ would care much about that).

I just noticed it now -- Oct 3. For some reason, when I was on line reading CNN yesterday, the article was on its website.

The department of state alerts usually make me laugh, at best... isn't that the same department of state that offered you not to walk around in open streets near your house, Dovster?

Or maybe it's the one that asked a friend of mine to lower profile, which translated in the department of state language to:
We will send you to do shopping with four body guards in black suits (and they did!)

Apparently a dull news day. Had to regurgitate old stories.
