We plan on spending two weeks in Hawaii later this year and are trying to decide where to spend our time. We have been to Oahu and Kauai. Is one week sufficient on Hawaii or should we spend more time there? How much time should we spend on Maui?

Maui is a great island. For a small island it has a nice variety of things to do.

Maui was not my speed. Too many people and too many families. I absolutely love Kauai and go every year.

You don't need more than 5 nights if you're worried about families and crowds. You can do most everything without rushing in that time. Of course, you could spend more. But given that you have two weeks I wouldn't spend less unless you add a third island like Kaui.

Whatever island you end up on, be sure to check out these tour books. They've made all of my trips amazing. And their dedications read "to the wizard in all of us," so you know it's for real.

We don't find families and crowds an inconvenience, and we can stretch our stay on either island if there is something that requires additional time.

    Thank you! :)
