Further proof that DHS doesn't have a sense of humor, and they have eyes everywhere. In this day and age, you can never be too cautious about what you post online.

Upon arrival they were escorted away and questioned for five hours, before being locked up overnight in a detention area. Then they were put on a flight back home.

    Wow...not cool..

Always good to remember the rule that if you do not want someone to see/hear/read something, do not post it online...

Scary -- but has anyone seen anything that says someone at LAX, with the airline involved or with HSA confirmed that this story is true?

If they were really a threat to US National Security their ESTA would have been pulled and they wouldn't have been allowed to board a flight to the United States so I am quite a bit suspect of this story.

Yeah but you know how the news is... get it first, even if you don't get it right. :)

I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out to be mostly made up, but you never know.

Right - Seems like most discussions has been on tech blogs. I find it interesting the person's twitter page has been made private. Sometimes, I think people get more than they bargained for...and I think that there's been far worse postings on the Internet. ;)

You have to be pretty stupid to post a comment about destroying America right before flying here. I am impressed how the comment was caught. However, due to the previous comment about Marilyn Monroe, I would think it was some guy making moronic comments but still question him...

If the DHS were trying to thwart actual terror plans, these two would never have been inconvenienced in the first place. I've always hated the heavy handedness of the pigs in the US, and to be honest this episode is exactly the sort of thing that I despise about the manner in which US authorities, whether it's policemen in Cleveland TX or CBP at LAX treat ordinary people.

Anyway, here's the Sun's take on it... wasn't a particularly high profile write up, hidden as it was far behind the paper's main headline titled "it's naughty knicker's week".

I think there's definitely more to the story than meets the eye... suspected (and apparently identified) terrorists are most likely not allowed to make it all the way into the US, only to be reprimanded and sent on their way back home. It's almost like someone wanted to punish these guys and waited until they got on US soil, detained them overnight, then decided "you know what, I'm gonna ruin your vacation and send you back home"

Then again, you don't know what really transpired during any interviews or what was said. But to think that someone somewhere is actually monitoring twitter and considered this to be a real threat is laughable and tragic at the same time.

I posted a number of tweets yesterday, the thesis of each being that one must not author tweets containing the words DESTROY and AMERICA. I'll be really irritated if some fudgeface in a Mens Wearhouse suit shows up at my door this afternoon inquiring into what are clearly heartfelt informational and public service tweets, devoid of any malice, harmful intent or mischief.

It's sad that some people/parts of the US govt are nothing more than a bunch of bloody tossers.

Fully agree that there is more to this than meets the eye, and that most likely it's malice on the part of the small minded individuals who decided to make an example of the two tourists.
