With the help of a local TV station, a Colorado woman, who missed her flight because of flooding earlier this year, got her money back from the airline.

In what reads like quite a hassle for anyone to go through, Pinewood Springs resident Darla Menger recently reached out to 9News Colorado for help. During the Colorado floods, Menger was stranded because of washed out roads.

“The roads were gone,” she told 9News. “There was no way to get out of Pinewood.”

American Airlines charged her a $200 penalty to cancel her flight. Menger tried to explain her situation but the airline wouldn’t budge, according to 9News.

The news channel called the airline and a American Airlines spokesman apologized and refunded Menger’s ticket at full value.

    Proves of two things:
    1. You don't get anything from the airlines unless you're an elite level.
    2. If you don't like what one agent says on the phone, hang up and try again.
