In response to public outrage over "granny pat-downs," the Transportation Security Administration will ease screening procedures for airline passengers 75 and older at O'Hare International Airport, officials said Wednesday.

The new screening protocols, to begin as a test on March 19 at O'Hare and three other airports, are similar to the less-intrusive screening implemented last year for children 12 and younger, the TSA said.

But, if you are a granny who is under 75, you are still a high risk...:)

And if you're a granny over 75 flying from any airport other than O'Hare, you're still a high risk.

We're ALL at risk so long as the TSA is involved.

AT risk, yes. A risk, no.

This is all very nice, but I, despite my heritage, skin colour, travel patterns, spiritual beliefs, political thoughts and use of vulgarity to describe things I don't like am about as much of a threat, if not less so, than your average granny. Subsequently, I don't feel like I (or anyone I've ever seen at an airport checkpoint) need to be patted down either.

I just saw on my local newscast that this pilot program is starting at MCO today. It'll be interesting to see whether it speeds things up or slow everyone down at the checkpoints.
