I am about to embark on a trip to Vienna, with a day trip to Bratislava (probably by boat on the Danube).

Of course, I am doing my own research, but if you've been to Vienna or Bratislava, what did you enjoy doing or seeing?

Are you going in August? That area can get rather hot and empty this month, with many locals out of town for vacation. On the plus side, there won't be any crowds and great hotel rates/availability.
In Vienna I liked exploring the medieval Fleischmarkt area and the 9th district. The enormous skull & bones repository under Stefansdom was kinda spooky/interesting too.
The boat ride sounds like a great idea! Would you share a link to the operator?

There may be others and I still have to do a bit more research, but this is the one I ran across earlier today:

29 Euros per person each way, so probably more expensive than the train, but also more scenic and fun.
