What criteria determine inclusion on the home page for trending topics?
Nunber of replies?
It seems like "trending topics" is not trending any of the threads in the "off Topic" lounges...
Is this correct??
of so, that's good- people were asking for those filters. Those threads move fast and would dominate the list, pushing off the current and timely "content" discussions.
Not that there is anything wrong with the lounges (well, with 90% of them ), but they aren't necessarily current/timely and the denizens always know to check them anyway.
i am still curious to find out what determines a trending topic.
This is a topic I think Tim has answered another member elsewhere on milepoint. I'll have him come over here to answer. Thanks.
Trending Topics are determined by how recently the thread was started (Topics older than 1 day will not show as trending) and they are ordered by topics that have gotten the most views. The Trending Topics list is dynamically built for each user so you can see topics from any forum that you have access to in it, though you are likely less likey to see items from an access restricted forum in it as it will have fewer users that have the possibility of seeing it.
Can you clarity what an access restricted forum is?
in other words, posts in the private silver forum:
won't appear to those who don't have access yet to that forum
are less likely to appear even for those who do have access, since so many less people have access to those forums. That results in less traffic there. Less traffic=less posts=less likely to hit the "trending" thresholds.
Is there a gold forum ?
yes. here is the gold forum
