If you book a combination of flights/hotels/car rentals/packages with Travelocity, you'll be part of their VIP program. (For me, the number was 5 completed bookings of any type). In the mid-2000s, it used to come with upgrades for hotels, coupons, luggage tags, etc.

Now it's a special phone line and car discounts - yawn.

However, in case you want a shorter wait on Travelocity calls - try this number:

I've just used them for car rentals for the past few years, still a VIP.

It always surprises me that the various VIP programs of the online booking agencies aren't better than they are.

Expedia's used to give you Randy's MileageManager service, and they even dropped that.

Yep.. Travelocity gave us all luggage tags, as I recall :D
Of course both Randys FT tags, & particularly my cherished official Old Gold tags were far better :)

Thanks for reminding me that it can be any booking not just hotels or airfare.

I think you can book and not even rent and extend your VIP status, as with car rentals, it's just a reservation, not a commitment.

Awesome. I know it didn't work for me with just hotel reservations as I do a lot for BRG purposes and my status didn't kick in until after completing the stays/flights. Good to know about the car rental reservation difference!
