From KL normally take MAS or AirAsia flight.
If you want to get cheaper price, AirAsia is the better choice.

If traveling in Asia it is ok to take AA.
If over Asia. I suggest to take other airline.
AA ticket is cheap but seat is quite small unless upgrade seat but not cheap anymore.

Well, I'll be in SE Asia over new years and Air Asia was significantly more expensive than Thai or Bangkok Air once I added a checked bag in. And even my US-legal carry-on needs to be checked in that part of the world.

Some days Air Asia is cheapest but not always.

    Also, AA is American Airlines.

 Is OP and rest (minus you, Satman & WA) in a buzz-creating mode for Air Asia ?

I have never taken AirAsia before. Or Tiger.
I'm sticking to Jetstar and other full service airlines.
The Jetstar seats are really too cramped and the number of children and the associated noise is deafening! I imagine it is worse for Air Asia.
