Does the SPG acct and the AA acount need to be in the same name
    when doing the transfer?

I requested to transfer SPG pts to my cousin's AA acct about 1 week ago.
The miles still have not posted to his account yet. How long it will take
    for the transfer?

The names have to match. If they don't, there's a good chance that the transfer will bounce back (after some time).

The way to do this is that SPG allows you to transfer points between their own accounts which are at the same residential mailing address. So if you and your cousin live together you can move points from your SPG account to your cousin's. And then your cousin can transfer points from their SPG account to their AA account.

Note, though, that you don't want to just change your cousin's account address, transfer points into it from your SPG account, and then change the address back. SPG has added some verifications to the process of transferring points between accounts, this really is intended to facilitate family members sharing with each other and they want to avoid letting people 'sell' their points this way...

This sounds like an interesting way to get more AA miles! Does anyone know if there are any decent offers for new Starwood signup bonuses? My wife never had the cards!

I'm not aware of any bonus for just signing up with SPG. However, if your wife or you never had the AMEX SPG card there is an up to 25,000 Starpoints (10,000 Starpoints with first purchase, plus 15,000 bonus Starpoints when you spend $15,000 in the first 6 months) and no annual fee for the first year. If you PM me your email, I can send you a referral that will net me 5,000 points when you are approved.

Amex is offering 10000 points for referral bonus now, but I haven't checked to see if that gives the other person the 10K/15K offer or only the lame 10K offer.

Also, @ MLW20, Frugal Travel Guy hinted that there may be a new bonus coming for SPG card mid-July. You might want to hold off applying until then.
  6. It gives the other person up to 25,000 Starpoints, I sent a referral two days ago. If you PM me your name and email, I can send you a referral and we can share the 10000 points referral bonus when you are approved.

Yes. If they don't, the airline will reject the transfer on their end.

Domestic transfers can take up to two weeks. Once another week passes, contact SPG customer service and ask them to do an airline transfer follow-up and request that the transfer be cancelled.
