SAS have announced you can now transfer points between accounts. Initially I thought this was a great idea. Sadly, they have also decided to charge some almost exorbitant fees for this service which in my opinion renders the whole thing worthless.

    http://www.flysas.com/en/EuroBonus/Spend-points/Transfer-of-points/#

    Prices:

    Example of points

    Price in Euro
    1000 € 15
    2000 € 30
    4000 € 60
    6000 € 90
    8000 € 120
    10 000 € 150

    Rules:
    Donor of points

    • Point transfers cost € 15 per 1000 Extra points
    • Minimum transaction is 1000 Extra points
    • Maximum transaction is up to 50 000 Extra points
    • Maximum amount transferred out per year 100 000 Extra points
    • No limit of number of transfer transactions allowed per year
    Recipient of points

    • Maximum point’s amount received by recipient per year 200 000 Extra points
    • No limit of number of transfer transactions allowed per year
Important! To be able to transfer points, you must have been a member one (1) year in SAS EuroBonus.

When I read the head line I was happy - but the details made me angry.... this is utterly useless....

Come back again SAS - when it is a win win for both of us and not only you! :(

I agree!! What would you propouse as a fee?
    - just one fee
    - more expensive the more you transfer
    More??

I think it should be a flat fee, I think Finnair has a 20 Euro fee for any amount and that is reasonable.

The other option that I would welcome, is if you could have family members accounts linked together and transfer between them for free. So if the wife is missing a few points could get some from husband etc.

Good idea, but how can SAS check that you are family? ;)

Probably hard to verify, one way to do it might be to limit to a certain number of accounts.

I prefer this idea. The addresses could show you are family. At least BA could have this feature so why not SAS or any other major airline? ;)
