50% bonus on AMEX membership reward point transfers to British Airways between June 1, 2011 and July 31, 2011. Terms imply that 50% bonus is only valid on one transfer although YMMV. Looks good!

I'm sorry - I mistyped - bonus is valid on your "original transfer" not your first transfer.

Awesome, thanks, T&C do say only one bonus per cardmember during this offer.

That's different than the recent Delta deal where only folks who had never transferred Amex->Delta before were eligible.

Combined with no YQ on LAN bookings (I'm pretty sure of that, anyways) and VERY reasonable rates to S. America on the single partner award, a free stopover and IPC being considered part of S. America and I now am pretty certain where I'll be for Christmas/New Years. :D

Do BA transfer bonuses generally post as quickly as Delta's do (ie 24 hours)?

This isnt even a bonus. This is a change of the transfer ratio to 1000MR=1500BA

Indeed, it actually says in the fine print that the "bonus" will post at the same time as the initial transfer.

I just read @ onemileatatime that they started to charge YQ (like $400) for CX redemptions. Any recent experience? Last time I redeemed on them the tax was like $50.

Recent BA redemption on CX roundtrip in F taxes/fees came to about $325 all-in. Particular amount will depend on destination because there are airport/departure taxes which vary..

Not a good development for BA miles.

I am holding on to more than 100k MR points and looking to transfer... was originally planning on moving them into CO, but now considering going for the BA transfer. Anyone have any thoughts on where to place them? I am very torn!

Same dilemma here. I'm wondering if I'm reading the BA award chart right. Is it really 240K miles for F from North America to Australia (versus 145K using AA miles)? And with BA miles in C to Chile/Argentina, 80K vs. 100K using AA?

Also wondering how available redemption on those routes generally is. I've never had trouble cashing UA or CO miles when I have some flexibility.

Thanks in advance- I've never redeemed on either airline, but with the credit card offers, I'm now sitting on a small pile of miles.

You might want to check with the F from NA to Oz that it is not trying to route you via UK which it does on some rewards.

I'm tossing up having to break out the CC to buy some points as our AMEX account is bare. We are down to our last 150k in our BA account but are currently in Australia and need to get tix back which would burn those points if we go out on Cathay via HK in FC. Decisions, decisions.

Made the move and dumped some Amex into BAEC. Planning flying 2x LAN J down to South America early next year. Great redemption - couldn't resist. Thanks Amex for the bonus and Chase for that 100K.

The points advance feature is not working on the website, so I called earlier today and it took about 10 minutes for the agent to put it through. Miles posted almost instantly to my BA account.
