Many of us routinely fly across the Atlantic but a few thousand of us each year send our cars from Europe to the U.S., typically in conjunction with an automaker's European/Tourist Delivery program.

I recently sent my car off from Bremerhaven the day before I was to fly to New York and I documented the sendoff, including my day spent touring the port and the AutoTerminal at Bremerhaven.

I also put together several slide shows so you can see a lot of what I saw (go to page two of the article for the slide shows).

Shipping the Mercedes-Benz E350 BlueTec to the U.S.

As far as I am concerned, it's the only way to buy a car - not because of the savings per se but, even though I'm in Europe 6-8 times a year and I've done European Delivery a dozen times, because of the experience.

You can get an idea of the experience of European Delivery here
