There are a couple more in the states that you can visit -- if you're into that type of thing -- one's near PHL and the other BOI.

Had a few family members visit these prisons, one for 15 years, the other for 30. Both gave bad reviews. :p

Eastern State is a great visit. I'm a bit surprised it didn't make the list. It's in good shape and easy to visit. Whenever someone comes into town if they are up for something touristy it's near the top of my list.

The Melbourne Jail is a tourist attraction and it's walkable, just on the edge of the Central Business District.

In Bergen, one can visit the lepers' hospital--I'm not sure what it's officially called--which was a sort of jail for the seriously ill. It's open only during a brief summer season, but very interesting.

Not quite top ten but San Lucas Island in Costa Rica (former prison island) was opened up to tourism a few years ago.

There is a KGB prison in Riga, Latvia Vilnius, Lithuania open to the public. Really cool to visit and see how awful prisoners were treated. Many of which didn't deserve being imprisoned. Been a while since I was there and visited Riga and Vilnius in the same trip. Went on google and found the link:
