I was at NRT a few weeks back and noticed N127UA, which was the plane that Stuker got his name painted on. I didn't see his name where I had recalled seeing it in the photos, but the forward cargo door was open, so I though it might be hiding behind there. Today I confirmed that where his name was painted was clearly visible in the photo, but his name was absent.
    Does anyone know what happened?

From what I've heard about the 10mm ceremony, the painted name was planned to be just temporary.

Well that is incredibly lame. How long was his name on the 777 (whose reg I can remember, N772UA or N776UA perhaps)?

777? The aircraft shown in the OP is a 747. Was it painted on a 777, too?

I believe Mr. Stuker had a 777 named after him before the 747 and that is what the poster was referencing - whether that plane also was a temporary thing.

Seems cheesy to offer a "temporary gift".

Especially considering that it costs them more money to take the gift back than to leave it as it is.

It was also missing in October.. Maybe they scotch taped the lettering on for the ceremony?

I was thinking more along the lines of a magnet so when they took it off they could give it to him.

I believe the 747 was temporary. As far as the 777, they named the first one after me and it remained on for 30 months/

Both of those were named after customers, but Stuker was on N770UA.

At least they didn't imply to you it was a lifetime benefit, Tom, unlike a couple of other little annoyances (Silver Wings and Million Mile Benefits). :D

Welcome to MP by the way. :)

Aren't you slated to have your moniker on one of the first 787 DreamLiners?

Taking it off does seem odd to me. What's the downside of leaving it there?
