Wow....are people paranoid?
Toilet paper scare prompts evacuation of Alaska Airlines jet
Yes they are paranoid.
When I saw this thread title, I thought someone was being overly dramatic about running out of TP in a lavatory during a flight. In that other place, it would have resulted in much speculation and complaining regarding how many miles this would be worth.
Guess I'll post it and we can watch in amusement. Nevermind..it's there...just not in the AS forum...under Security.
What is the world coming to?
Man, imagine what baby powder would have done.
Note to self: Don''t change kids and use baby powder on AS flight.
There seems to be waaay too much news coming from AS these days. I'm sure corporate is annoyed at how many planes are getting delayed due to security alerts. I am becoming less and less apologetic.
If it's any consolation, it seems that Alaska finds plenty of other ways to have delayed flights.
I don't hate Alaska, it just seems every time I have flown them (admittedly, not recently), there have been delays measured in hours. I know that can happen with any airline, but it just seemed more frequent with them.
Is it safe to say the fears have been wiped away?
Thinking the exact same thing! This takes the "if you see something, say something" campaign to a whole new level!
Sarah Palin is from Alaska, right?
Oh come on. Lets not go there! She's a non factor and not related to this in any way.
I've always thought the toilet paper on planes was rough, but I never thought of calling security.
So first we have oxygen masks being removed from airplane lavatories because they were deemed a security risk and Out of an Abundance of Caution®, guess what's gonna happen next.....
Like some places in Europe...be sure to BYOTP...
Wow. Thats a little hyper vilgilant. Hope they got to slide down chute during the evacuation. That'll cost 'em a pretty penny.
I can see the conversation in the maintenance hangar now:
"Hey, vinny, why is this bird in the nest?"
Vinny: "uh, someone freaked out at dingleberry dust and pulled the chute....or is it poop chute in this case?"
Is this some Alaskan connection?
Last sighting I heard about was on DL...
Hmm on a separate note, AS508 is one of my favorite flights...you can avoid the hubub of LAX and still get to SEA
Maybe AS should upgrade to Charmin, doesn't that leave less particles behind LOL
I think this response is fitting:
Ah, but for a $2 charge, as part of the increase of the buy on board programme, AS will sell you a pack of gentle soft paper*, made with Recycled Paper** for your in-flight convenience***,*****.
** As far as you know, it's recycled.
*** May buy multiple packs. Packs contain 3 sheets. Packs maybe fresh if sealed. Packs may not be shared. We Accept Credit Cards or your soul. Actually, not your soul - your credit card is worth more.
***** Well, if you want to use our convenience... time to pay up...
I wasn't quite going to go there, but i felt this thread might be remiss if I didn't offer the following:
I think AS has always been a little on edge since they can see Russia from their hub*!**
* not really true
They used to see it from the cockpit, back when they flew to the Soviet Union. Ah what a simpler world, when all we had to worry about was the Soviet Union.
I remember as a kid that some of our flights from Asia to Europe took interesting paths as to avoid flying in Soviet airspace. I was too young to understand it at the time, but was definitely cognizant of the practice.
