I thought it would be fun to ask what are some of the best tips you personally have learned from MilePoint that you didn't know before using this site?

I'll start off. It's cool to know that I can book flights on Kenmore Air from Victoria Inner Harbour to Lake Union in Seattle using Alaska Mileage points. For a guy who lives in on Vancouver Island, this is awesome news. Thx MP.

I'd never heard of the ANA tool before milepoint- I recently used it to help get a United saver award to Asia.

I learned about amazon payments and have been using that to meet minimum spend on my SPG amex.

I discovered TopGuest and use it daily to get 18,000+ free yearly Priority Club, Choice, HHonors, and Best Western Points I can convert to miles.

    Thanks milepoint!

The Ventuire card 100k promo. $1,100 to spend on travel is the sweetest deal I've ever gotten.

As far as tips I've gathered from Milepoint, redeeming those 110,000 points for $1,800 in Hyatt certificates with points to spare was incredibly valuable. Looking at my spending habits, the Venture became my primary card.

Before MP I did not know that thru my Costco membership I could get discounts on rental cars and Hyatt hotel stays.

I did the same as did my wife. Allowed me to cancel an award stay in a suite at the Park Hyatt Paris Vendome, redeposit the points and use the certificates to pay for our 5 nights there.

And the moment Capital One pulled that award was also the moment that card went into the drawer and won't be renewed.

Yup, you can use the promo code COSTCO for Hyatt bookings and it normally matches the AAA rate.

With car bookings, just go thru their website, prices are substantially less.

Same. Embarrassing to me, as I am pretty decent at getting various discounts. And as hulagrrl said, TopGuest.

Learning something new here everyday, the last one being how to do more with a "print screen" on a Mac. One trick that I thought I knew how to do. Thanks MP!

I have learned so many things, I don't know where to start. One of the biggies was the Venture card, 114,000 miles for buying two iPads - sweet!

wish I'd got the biz card as well. C'est la vie!
I did get the personal and biz Citi AAdvantage cards and scored 165000 miles.

The most economical thing I've learned here is how to get MR's with a very low cpm. Was never much into doing MR's before; I mostly purchased miles rather than making a day trip somewhere. But, those day trips (more often than not, just lunch in another airport) have become quite a bit of fun.

I'd have to agree...love the many great tips from veterans who know a lot more than I do about frequent flying, but having the $1,100 in the vault to spend in the future, at virtually no cost to me, was a real tangible benefit.

+1, except following the MP thread very closely got me in on the Hyatt $900 before it went up/away, and 4 Ovation Suite certificates. Those certificates will get me $2500+ "value" at the Fairmont Kea Lani in Wailea. I've never paid more than $150/night for a hotel in my life, so that card/thread will allow me to live like a rich person for (the only) six days of my life.
