Three Russian charter air-carriers have been banned from flying to Europe during the winter holiday season.

European aviation authorities claim the airlines' safety records prevent them from flying.

Russia's Aviation Agency issued warnings to six airlines back in November – but only half of them managed to improve their safety standards.

Transaero, a major Russian carrier, will be prevented from operating any charter flights to Rome, Venice or Milan. The airline lost its license to do so back in November, and Aeroflot is already planning additional flights to satisfy the demand.

And transaero claims to be the safest airline around in the CIS! By pure luck I say with their 3rd hand old planes and clumsy service!
