So I'm going to Brazil next week and there are three of us in my reservation. On the way back I'll fly the first segment, but then will fly on another AA flight that I had purchased through US airways. Will me now showing up for the last two segments cancel my friends' reservations that are on the same PNR?

No, because you should each be on individual tickets.

Not a problem at all. The system can split the no show off the PNR and the other passengers will be unaffected.

I had an interesting experience with similar a few years ago where the other pax flights didn't properly cancel and I kept getting asked if he was going to show up. On three separate segments.
