I just got the Founders Card on a whim and I was wondering what others thoughts on the card were?

While the discounts on some airlines and instant statuses are nice (Hilton Gold, Cathay Pacific, Lufthansa), the real value that I can see will lie in hotel bookings.

Basically it seems it operates much like Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts but with better discounts. So you can stay at top tier properties for less and accrue stays and points.

Anybody else have anything to add? If anyone wants a referral just pm me.

Is the status permanent or just for an introduction period?

Their benefits rotate regularly. Right now Hilton gold is through March 2014. I'm a new member so still trying to figure it out myself.

TOBB has a few in depth threads on this, some being the warning type. I believe there was an issue with one of the loyalty programs where they purchased a "corporate status" account and were selling the benefits which was a violation of the T&C. Never really went to far beyond skimming the thread but I believe that was the gist of it.

    $495/yr. $395 when you signup through uncrate.com

Based on the hotel bookings alone it looks like 5-6 nights should pay for the card. That's over published rates, not Priceline or the like.

The other discounts and status' are bonuses.

Yeah. I read about this too. The mix up was with American Airlines.

I just used my $400 Barclays NFL statement credit to pay for it. ftw. Figured I'd try it out. Time will tell.

    Hhonors gold
    Cathay silver
    Lufthansa silver
    5% off JetBlue

Then they have luxury hotel deals everywhere. Like Amex fine resort and hotels. Park hyatts/Waldorf/st Regis etc. discounted rates and perks like free breakfast and wifi.

They have lots of other discounts and savings on business stuff.

tried it, not worth the fee. Start ups think this is neat as they can carry the "founders" card. All those meet ups are in the big cities, if you are into that stuff. They had AA 10% off codes (stopped offering them last year)which never worked, the good folks on this board gave codes that worked!

    IMO over priced card.
