The head line makes one think this was an invol downgrade, enough to raise the blood pressure of a frequent flyer. Instead, relatives on the plane wanted to stand in the business class aisle to help granny recline the electric seat or deal with her meals (the meals aren't served in a tray with saran wrap; this isn't Lufthansa FFS).

So the relatives decided to put granny back into coach.

If she was that frail, why was she traveling to Australia in the first place?

I'd say that is none of your ... business.

I have heard it announced to stay in your own cabin class on inbound international class flights,

I have walked back to the back, to stretch my legs,

I don't know the cabin rules in this case, but as I return to my seat they often ask me my seat assignment, and they let me pass.

I would hope they would give some flexibility, it is a two sided story., over the years I have seen my share of visitors come to the front of the plane, and the crew has been accommodating, before 9/11.

Same here. Or when the F or J lavs are in use.

AA doesn't seem to care about visitors from steerage. UA, CX do, and that's how it should be. J and F pax paid a premium to sleep.

Either you or a poster on FT are wrong about CX

Or maybe the case is simply a matter of "it depends on the situation" and the crew, and it isn't a black and white rule.

I spend extra, for the space, and the quiet area, and never appreciated even the pre departure visitors,

Granny should have had an escort, at 76 I travel with a Doctor, just a few seats away, same cabin.

FA seem to go out of their way to help, but I have seen some that could care less, and you have that in any business,

At 90 plus, old granny has had considerable consideration in her life, I often ask my wife's mother to visit, and rest assured she would have a seat mate, in FC or J, along with some aspirins.

'We all live in a remark full world, unreal when we look back..

I have never had trouble gaining access to my food or Bloody Mary, unless they cut my drinks off,

IIRC the problem occurred on the outbound international flight, back to Australia after she had one last reunion visit with her family. During the inbound flight to the USA, the daughter was allowed to help grandma in business class and everything apparently went very well.

As a business person, we all work many hours and bend our backs to start the company,

As we hire others and delegate tasks, the performance declines.

We only have 2 hands and only so many hours we perform our tasks,

80% of the time granny was treated great, like you we all wish it could be 100% if the time.

99% of my flights with United has been great, the majority of their employees are excellent,
