    We are planning a family trip next year to Poland, the Czech Republic and Germany. Since P and CZ are not on the Euro I think our $ will go much farther. Does anyone have recommendations for:

    Best airline to fly from NYC in terms of the abilty to use the least amount of miles, stopovers allowed, etc.
    Best use of hotel points (I have Marriott, Hilton, Radisson)
    Best cities in each country.

    Thanks in advance!

    What programs to you belong to? (you mention use of miles/stopovers)

    FF programs have different terms/conditions so knowing what programs and mile balances you have will help us help you.

    50,000 British Airways
    40,000 US Airways
    25,000 Delta

    Hmm this seems like something I was planning on doing next year. I don't have as many points/miles as you do; but my proposed trip went something like this.

    But from my understanding since Germany/Poland largest carriers are *A, you should be doing it via United/US

    Berlin -> Dresden -> Prague -> Salzburg -> Vienna -> Krakow -> Warsaw

    I go to KRK a few times a yr to visit familiy in slovakia so I'm familiar with the routes you are looking at.

    How many are traveling? for 60k a piece you can travel UA or LH or LOT from your united miles. Out of the 3, I would say LH would be my pick - easy connections to poland and prague from frankfurt, munich or dusseldorf. But then again I'm partial to star alliance.....

    Also from my research UA miles are cheaper than AA/BA miles cuz AA/BA charges a lot for fuel/tax/etc. Not to mention all BA flights route through London. Since you want to goto Germany/Poland your best bet is most likely United/US through LH/LOT.

    Yep, those fuel surcharges will sometimes cost as much as the ticket would have!

    There are 4 of us, 2 adults, 2 children.... which makes it much more difficult all around.
