We're headed there for the first time with the family. Our kids are 8 and 3 and haven't started skiing yet. We may try ski lessons but definitely want to do some tubing, snowmobiling, dogsledding and good dining.

    Anyone have recommendations for above?

We're staying at the Hyatt Regency but will have a car and can get South if there are desirable destinations there.

I don't know about Tahoe, but we went dog sledding in the Yukon earlier this year and it was a ton of fun (until I flipped the sled... okay, even that was still a ton of fun).

Might be a tad cold for me. And, it's been about 20 years since the last time I surfed.

My wife and went dog sledding about 10 years ago in Banff. Still one of the best experiences of our lives. Definitely want the kids to experience it.

Hyatt has a relationship with Diamond Peak, a nice little slope great for beginners. They have a free shuttle, and they rent gear at the Hyatt. Ideal time to start skiing, etc. : http://www.diamondpeak.com/plan/ski-and-stay-packages

also, cross-country skiing is a great family activity. We did it at NorthStar at Tahoe, and rented a sled for Dad to pull the youngest.
